Retro Ear Warmers

This week, I had an order for 3 gorgeous ear warmers to be made. They needed to be in light blue, Dark blue, and Grapey Purple.

I did them all 3 in some variations of the Pinup girl tie style hairbands that I made, and I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out. There are no a patterns – I came up with them myself. 🙂

The first is the Grapey one. It’s in a front/back post stitch, and has a little “feature” of a loop that hooks around it to make it a bit looking like a bow.

The second was a petrol blue colored blanket stitch style ear warmer. This one I narrowed the ends and added a button to go in the back.

And the third is a light tourquoise hair band with ruffled edges, and a tie on the top. This one is the one I mentioned that was modified from the pinup girl hair tie I did earlier.

Navy, Mulberry and Petrol Cowl

Doing a bit of retro blogging today, as I am trying to catch up on several Crochet projects that I did and then gifted for Christmas. Since I didn’t want to reveal the “gift” until after the person received them, it only makes sense.

The last time I was in the USA, I went shopping with my step mom. She helped me pick out some gorgeous yarn, in 3 shades – Mulberry red, a beautiful turquoise blue, and a lovely navy. They all went together, and the original plan was to make a certain type of scarf. After returning to Ireland, I unfortunately discovered there wasn’t enough to do what I’d wanted. So, I frogged the entire scarf – and put the yarn aside.

This winter, I picked the yarn back up, and made a shell stitch cowl – with the 3 colors. It’s an infinity scarf / cowl, and I think it turned out pretty. I gave it to my stepmom as a Christmas gift. This is me modelling it.

Irish Rainbows shawl

Doing a bit of retro blogging today, as I am trying to catch up on several Crochet projects that I did and then gifted for Christmas. Since I didn’t want to reveal the “gift” until after the person received them, it only makes sense.

Rainbow festival shawl

This is a rainbow festival shawl. It was completed just before Christmas, and I had the intention of giving it to someone as a Christmas gift. However, once it was done, I decided I wanted to keep it – because it is so pretty, and it makes me happy. (This is the first item I’ve ever made for myself!) I’ve worn it a few times now (different ways) and I get lots of compliments on it because of the bright cheerful nature of the shawl.

It’s made out of 3 skeins of King Cole Shine Yarn in Meadow (about 9 Euros a skein), and it sparkles because in the yarn, there is a tiny tiny filament of silver thread spun in. The yarn itself is easy to work with, and it is self-stripeing. The pattern is from a diagram that I found online – and it was in German, and to me it looked like “rainbows”. So, combined with the yarn – I think it really does look bright, festival ish, and like a bunch of Irish rainbows.

As always, if you’re wanting a custom order, I’m happy to make one of these for you in any color you desire!
