Monday Morning Blues

It’s a Monday.. that’s all I can say.

My Alarm went off at 5 am. I slept through it. At 6am, I was still asleep, when my second alarm and back up cell phone alarm went off. I was having strange dreams, and I did NOT want to get up.

I stumbled out of bed, and started the shower. I had water, but when I turned it on, I didn’t realize it was set to HOT ONLY. I went to get in and hopped out almost immediately, cursing the fact that yesterday’s shower had hardly any hot water and I’d forgotten to set it back to the “middle” setting.

I got dressed – went out to walked the dog. Took the wrong keys. Went back, and got the keys with the rubbish bin key and tossed the trash in the rubbish bin. Dropped the leash for the dog – he proceeded to go romping around the parking lot. After 2-3 minutes of “chase” he finally let me catch him and get the leash which had been dragging on the ground.

Walk completed, I put him back in the house, leaving my lunch on the table. I went back the 10 steps got it, before walking the rest of the way to work. (10 minutes late).

I got turnover, put lunch in the fridge and went for a coffee. Someone took my mug from the dishwasher, so I couldn’t take the free coffee from the coffee pot.

Went to coffee bar. Got a paper cup of Large Latte. Went to the side counter and proceeded to open packets of sugar – pouring the sugar into the trash and putting the paper into the coffee. Thought “Oy! This doesn’t look right?!?” and fished out the paper before properly sugaring the coffee.

Returned to desk, answered a couple emails. Decided that I needed another coffee. Still can’t find my coffee mug. Bought another paper cup of coffee – only to have the cup leak onto my desk….

All I could say, as I laughed about the entire thing was…

Yep! It’s a Monday. I should have stayed in bed because it’s been a great start to the work week…. No other “surprises” please.

A Fond Farewell…

A fond farewell...

A fond farewell to my favorite pair of ear clip headphones, which finally developed a non fixable short in the base. I’ve had them since 2005, used them daily (on computers/mp3/walking the dog and bike riding). They’ve served me well and lasted longer than any other pair I’ve ever had.

I looked and looked, and had to go to amazon’s “old” stock to find a replacement pair because Sony’s “upgrade” to the MDR-Q22 was actually worse than the original. The replacement arrived today.

Farewell, and Adieu to my old headphones. You’ve served me well and will now be used for “parts”.

PS. If you want a really great pair of headphones, look for the Sony MDR-Q22 – if you can find it… and Maybe… someday, Sony will “reinstate” their production.

My Ambitious Project

I mentioned a few days ago that my friend Jules is having triplets. Well, as part of my shopping last Saturday, I went to the local woolen (yarn) shop and found some beautiful locally grown/spun baby yarn that I thought would be suitable for making 3 sets of baby gifts for my friend Jules. My hopes are that I will be able to make 3 sweaters, 3 hats, and 3 pairs of baby booties in the next couple of weeks – and have them done before the babies get here.

The colors I’ve chosen are violet, yellow, and a sort of grey petrol color to go along with another main color which is for the gender of the babies. None of these are what I would normally call “baby colors” despite the fact that they’re called baby yarn. They’re not pastels – by any chance of the imagination – which sort of amuses me. Mostly because in the US, for babies, we would always find the yarn in pastel baby pink/blue, pale (mint) green, pale (butter) yellow, light lavender, as well as white. Here the colors were the “trendier” ones, including fuscha pink, electric blue, black, petrol, bright violet, red, vivid sunshine yellow, turquoise, creme, taupe, and a few others that made it difficult to decide. In the end, I did choose colors that co-ordinated and we’ll see how the project goes.

At present, I’m thinking of modifying the following pattern – Baby Sleeper Set – for a baby “dress” that I’ve made several times – into a sort of genderless baby sweater to go over their clothes. I have made this baby pattern 3-4 times now (click here for a picture), and it crochets up relatively fast, and looks like it’ll be fairly easy to modify into a cardigan type top with ties. I think it’ll be cute with a little baby hat and booties – though I’m not sure I’ll do the booties that the pattern maker selected with the item – that’ll be based on now much yarn I have left.

Well, wish me luck, and we’ll see how it goes.
