New Bike; Spring is finally here!

Hooray! Spring is finally here. The last 3 days have been warm (in the 50’s) Dry, and sunny. Perfect.

Tony & Me

(Me out with A from work on his last night in Berlin – yes, that’s a drinking hat I have on there!)
What’s funny is that I bought a new bike last Wednesday (see above)- and that’s when it slowly quit raining and started warming up. It’s a great bike, and I have been dying to ride it. Amusingly enough – by Sunday, it was officially bike riding weather – and yes, darlings, I am doing my best to use it to and from work.
Thursday found me with the new bike – peeling off the decals and spray painting it a bright lime green and an iridescent purple/green reflective color over the original gray. Best I can say is that I made it as drippy and bad looking as possible – to help prevent it from getting stolen like the first mountain bike here was.

The New Bike:

Day 42: New Bike
I sold the old bike (it was a girls city bike which means it was made for transporting the groceries and etc.) and got another mountain bike. Yeah – you know me… pop the curb, jump the pothole, slide down the stairs… and keep on biking – in traffic no less. (Thank God for helmets, right?)
So, if you see some chick in red jacket, sunglasses, and riding a bike like the one above while jamming to one ear of MP3 player tunes – yeah, it’d most likely be me….

Watching Paint Dry

I’m sitting here, at home, watching paint dry on my windows. Typical Germany, I had to take an entire day off to let the guys caulk and paint the inside and outside of 2 windows. (Ok he IS working the entire building – but.. it shouldn’t take 2 hours for 2 windows, then 3 hours to dry and 2 more hours to come back and do a second coat…)

On the bright side, it’s gorgeous weather outside (I’m trying to keep the dog from dashing out there and running away…) with sun and no breeze. It’s even warm enough where you’re comfortable in a t-shirt.

So, picture me sitting outside, on the patio sofa cross legged with my laptop strung out the door. The pup is sitting in the grass sunning himself, and I’m editing photos from Ireland among other places.

In the background, I have the TV turned on – and they’ve started with the hour of country music on viva. Not a bad thing… until this:

It made me pause, set down the laptop, walk in the house and look at the TV. I was laughing so hard that I almost had to go pee before the end of the video. Seriously, there is nothing quite like country music sung in that soft harmonic suthern accent… with German pronounciation and cheezy lyrics.
Hope you got as much of a kick out of it as I did.

Isn’t that Everything?

Just a thought on my mood today… this song just pretty well fit. It’s 19 C (55 F) sunny, warm and georgeous today. And.. Despite not being a huge country fan, sometimes the lyrics count more than what the “sound” is.

“Isn’t That Everything”

I might not have a million dollars in the bank
But I’ve got food on my table and gas in my tank
I might not have designer sheets on a king size bed
But I lay down at night with a roof over my head

Yeah, I’ve got friends who love me
A big blue sky above me
And your two arms around me baby every night

[Chorus:]
Isn’t that everything
I don’t need anything
It’s only the simple things I believe
That matter most in life
I’m more than satisfied
All that I have is all I need
Isn’t that everything

Now I’m not saying I don’t dream from time to time
Every girl I know loves the way a diamond shines
But when the party’s over and the glitter starts to fade
It’s all about your piece of mind at the end of every day

I know Jesus loves me
Up in that sky above me
I see that morning sun again and feel alive

[Chorus:]
Isn’t that everything
I don’t need anything
It’s only the simple things I believe
That matter most in life
I’m more than satisfied
All that I have is all I need
Isn’t that everything

Yeah, I’ve got friends who love me
A big blue sky above me
And your two arms around me baby every night
I know Jesus loves me
Up in that sky above me
I see that morning sun again and feel alive

[Chorus:]
Isn’t that everything
I don’t need anything
It’s only the simple things I believe
That matter most in life
I’m more than satisfied
All that I have is all I need
Isn’t that everything

Isn’t that everything
Isn’t that everything
