Good Bye Teltow!

I gave up my apartment today. I’m a bit sad, because its been my home in Germany for the last 4 years. All things must come to an end, however, and it was time to go.

So, here’s the photos from the empty, repainted apartment – and if you know anyone who wants a ground floor flat close to nothing, where nothing happens (perfect for retirement?!?) except the occasional neo-nazi protest, please let me know.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take a photo of the back porch and garden, but sometimes, you think of that too late… anyhow, Goodbye Teltow, and Hello New Ireland Adventures!

Thai Goddess Parties

Thai godess parties

One of the things I’ve apparently missed living in Teltow was the weekend craziness that is living in the big city. Not far from where I’m staying, there’s a Thai restaurant that I have to walk past with a big beautiful goddess statue out front. Normally, she is just a statue, and occasionally she is holding a plant. Often, I wonder what kind of stories she could tell – and today is no different.

Why? Well, when I came past her this morning, I determined she must have been to a really good party last night. Around her neck was a beautiful yellow plastic lei with several “airline size” bottles (empty) of alcohol that had been “twist-tied” to the lei. I chuckled a bit and had to take a picture to share.

Someone had a really good night.

Party on, Goddess, Party on!

Summer’s Bloom

Water lillies-in work pond

It’s in the 30c range again today. Not too hot but still summery. I got to enjoy a walk after lunch today around the pond (it was busy but not too busy) at work. It was quite pleasant – and I decided to whip out the cell phone and take some photos. Enjoy!

Cat tails and lily pads

Cat-tails, water lilies, and lily pads. Monet would be proud.
