Traveling to a New Adventure!

In the words of Tom Petty – “Time to move on.. Time to get going…”

(ok so it’s a cover of the original b/c I can’t find the original).

Today’s the day. Good Bye Germany…. Hello Belgium, then France, then Ireland!

Road Trip

Thus begins the 12 + hour long drive from Germany, Across Belgium, Into France, and over to Cherbourg. Then, on my dad’s 60th Birthday (Sept 8th ) at 6pm, I have to be on a ferry for 19 hours to Rosslaire, Ireland. From there its another 3-4 hours to Dublin. Yep a long Road Trip.

Thus, In honor of all of the driving with my traveling companions, I thought that some music may be appropriate….

Yep, here goes nothing (again)…. Not like I’ve been here before or anything… 🙂 How many times does this make it that I’ve gotten rid of everything to start over in a completely new place now? Um… by my count – at least 5.

1) Russia, 2) NY, 3) UT, 4) Germany, 5) Ireland

Guess that’s why they call them “Gypsy Feet”…

I guess expect more soon, perhaps a few uploads from the camera phone of interesting things along the way, and hopefully some great stories of the latest and greatest adventure in my life….

Flash Movers

Last Thursday, the movers brought me a stack of boxes to pack my stuff, with the goal of coming today to pick my stuff up and get it shipped to Ireland to my happy new apartment.

For the last week, I have been packing, packing and more packing – except for the kitchen, which I woke up at 5:30 am and started packing. When I was on my last box – right at noon, the movers showed up with 6 guys. I showed them what all needed to be moved and they set to work – labeling each box, documenting what was put on the truck – and had the entire truck loaded with all my stuff in 30 minutes.

We’re talking my entire apartment – 22 boxes, 2 sofas, an armchair, 2 dining chairs, a table, 2 large clothing bags, my bed, mattresses, bike, etc etc. It was so fast I didn’t even get a chance to finish packing the last box before they were done and waiting on it.

As I hurredly finished the last box, they disappeared. I thought maybe they had left – but no, they were outside, eating lunch. Yep… I’m serious. They came in, got the last box, and then left. Done in less than an hour.

Talk about your flash movers – so fast, in fact, that I was a little flabbergasted on how quickly my apartment went from my home of 4 years to an empty cold apartment simply needing to be cleaned. After months of waiting, I guess when stuff happens it really does.

And so, I’m off to spend the rest of my time in Germany living at Kate’s house in Mitte – and preparing for the big long drive. Thanks Kate for letting me stay there – so I don’t have to spend time in my empty apartment.
